Coach Kohles, a proud Oakland Native, has spend 9 years dedicated to producing high quality athletes both on and off the track. He has seen 51 athletes to state during his time as head coach. He is a member of the school record holding 4x800.
On top of coaching both the Cross Country and Track & Field teams, he is also the leadership at Skyline, focused on better the Skyline community as a whole. As head coach, he has lead the Titans to 12 Track section championships.
He received his BA from California State University East Bay. He also holds 2 teaching credentials and a Masters in Teaching.
Coach Borgeson was a three sport athlete in high school (cross country, basketball, track and field). He earned his bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Cruz and his Teaching credential from CSU East Bay. This is his 5th year teaching at Skyline, and 6th season with Skyline Cross Country and Track & Field. He runs all Skyline's vertical and horizontal jumps. He is USATF Level 1 Certified in all events.
Coach Alvarado returns for his seventh year of coaching the Titan’s boy’s and girl’s distance program. Since coming back home to the program as an assistant coach for the boy’s and girl’s championship 2011 cross country seasons, Coach Alvarado has specialized in teaching students mobility drills and helping them get back on the trail. In his spare time, Coach Alvarado enjoys teaching inner-city youth how to throw heavy things long distances.
Coach Alvarado is never one to shy from coaching clinics and is always open to learning new methods of advancing our sport, especially if it concerns a new way to stretch a muscle. Coach Alvarado is a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach in all events and is an Accredited Interscholastic Coach in Track & Field by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
Of all of the successes that he has helped bring about as a coach at Skyline, Coach Alvarado’s favorite accomplishments are still that the Skyline Cross Country and Track & Field programs consistently develop successful Titans on and off the track.
Coach Stewart is an Oakland Native and Skyline Alum. A former track and field athlete herself is coming into her second year of coaching and has already made a lasting impact on the team. She graduated from UC Riverside, an NCAA division 1 school, where she studied computer science and media & cultural studies. At Riverside she was apart of the DI track team and also played club rugby. A majority of the time she handles the sprinters, specializing in strength and conditioning.
Coach Pescador was born and raised in Oakland, CA. He graduated Skyline High School in 2014. During his time at Skyline, he was a part of the football and track team. As of right now, he is a full-time student at Merritt College working to transfer so he can pursue a bachelors degree in Kinesiology. He believes being a student-athlete taught him valuable skills and knowledge that he used to navigate the track and the classroom as well as in his adult life today. These are skills that he is looking forward to passing along.
Coach Dimitri – this is Dimitri’s first year coaching the high jump at Skyline. He graduated from Pretoria Boys’ High School in South Africa in 1998 where he competed in the high jump. He got his engineering degree from the University of Pretoria in 1993 where he competed in the high jump and soccer. He’s been living in Oakland since 2000 and is a proud supporter of Oakland public schools.
Coach Berrol is an Alumnus of Skyline High School, who studied BioChemistry at the University of California Davis where he ran for one an half years of NCAA division II track and during his time at Davis was also a student athletic trainer. Currently he works locally as an Emergency Medicine Physician, as the director of Emergency Services at ABSMC/Summit. He has two children who have/are participating in Skyline's renown track and field program. This is his second year volunteering with the Titan's track program and is serving this year as the Pole Vault Coach. This is a new discipline to Skyline and is in the building phase.
Coach Bern is a proud Skyline Alumni who competed for California State University East Bay - Women's Cross Country (NCAA Div II) during undergrad.
She holds a bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry. She enjoys anything science related and currently works at a biotech company in Emeryville.
This is her first year co-coaching distance and loves joining the athletes on long trail runs.
