Coaches

Coach Phan-Kohles, a proud Oakland Native, has spent over a decade dedicated to producing high quality athletes both on and off the track. He has seen over 50 athletes to state during his time as head coach. He is a member of the school record holding 4x800.

On top of coaching both the Cross Country and Track & Field teams, he is also the leadership teacher at Skyline, president of the Skyline Alumni Association, and is focused on improving the Skyline community as a whole. As head coach, he has lead the Titans to over a dozen Track section championships. 

He received his BA from California State University East Bay. He also holds 2 teaching credentials and a Masters in Teaching. Coach Kohles is USATF Level 1 Certified in all events and is USATF level 2 certified in sprints, hurdles and relays. 

Coach Stewart is an Oakland Native and Skyline Alum. A former track and field athlete herself is coming into her second year of coaching and has already made a lasting impact on the team. She graduated from UC Riverside, an NCAA division 1 school, where she studied computer science and media & cultural studies. At Riverside she was apart of the DI track team and also played club rugby. A majority of the time she handles the sprinters, specializing in strength and conditioning. 

Coach Jae graduated from Skyline in 2019 and is currently majoring in kinesiology at Cal State East Bay, where he has ran NCAA Division II cross country and track for 2 years. He loves running and Weezer.


Coach PK - is an Oakland baby and Skyline Alum. She has been part of the Skyline Community since graduating HS doing student leadership development work fighting for an equitable education for all students of Oakland.

She received her AA-T at Laney College and BA at CSUEB in Psychology. She learned in her young adult life that her passion is working with young people. Her support for the team includes social, emotional and academic support. 


Kyle Byrne- born and raised in Oakland CA he graduated from Skyline 2020. He ran track and field for College of the Redwoods, a junior college, where he became the Golden Valley Conference champion, NorCal Champion, and placed 7th at State in the 800m. He transferred to Cal State Eastbay in 2023 where he is currently running and studying to get his bachelors in psychology. 

He is passionate about uplifting the youth by building discipline and confidence through sports and academics. Mentored by Oakland's finest, he wants to pass on his knowledge so he can inspire and be inspired by the next generation.
