Coaches
Coach Kohles, a proud Oakland Native, has spent over a decade dedicated to producing high quality athletes both on and off the track. He has seen over 50 athletes to state during his time as head coach. He is a member of the school record holding 4x800.
On top of coaching both the Cross Country and Track & Field teams, he is also the leadership teacher at Skyline, president of the Skyline Alumni Association, and is focused on improving the Skyline community as a whole. As head coach, he has lead the Titans to over a dozen Track section championships.
He received his BA from California State University East Bay. He also holds 2 teaching credentials and a Masters in Teaching. Coach Kohles is USATF Level 1 Certified in all events and is USATF level 2 certified in sprints, hurdles and relays.
Coach Stewart is an Oakland Native and Skyline Alum. A former track and field athlete herself is coming into her second year of coaching and has already made a lasting impact on the team. She graduated from UC Riverside, an NCAA division 1 school, where she studied computer science and media & cultural studies. At Riverside she was apart of the DI track team and also played club rugby. A majority of the time she handles the sprinters, specializing in strength and conditioning.
Coach Berrol is a Skyline alum and Oakland native. He ran cross country and track and field in high school. He studied biology at UCLA where he also was the administrator of UCLA’s running club. He currently competes in cross country and road races with Oakland Track Club, focusing on the half and full marathon distances. He is in his first year of coaching and works with the endurance group.
Coach Berrol is an Alumnus of Skyline High School, who studied BioChemistry at the University of California Davis where he ran for one an half years of NCAA division II track and during his time at Davis was also a student athletic trainer. Currently he works locally as an Emergency Medicine Physician, as the director of Emergency Services at ABSMC/Summit. He has two children who have/are participating in Skyline's renown track and field program. This is his second year volunteering with the Titan's track program and is serving this year as the Pole Vault Coach. This is a new discipline to Skyline and is in the building phase.
Coach Dimitri – this is Dimitri’s first year coaching the high jump at Skyline. He graduated from Pretoria Boys’ High School in South Africa in 1998 where he competed in the high jump. He got his engineering degree from the University of Pretoria in 1993 where he competed in the high jump and soccer. He’s been living in Oakland since 2000 and is a proud supporter of Oakland public schools.
